It is a must read for anyone planning on living or even just visiting the Philippines, from the 1st timer to the long term veteran. It doesn't get any better then this....Ben Bazy"

Big Clean up and through out

Today it really started to feel like we are moving. The entire day was spent in a biggest ever clean up and through out. Have a big truck arriving tomorrow afternoon to take the junk away.

Since moving into our house almost six years ago we have conducted half a dozen such clean ups but this was by far the most ruthless. Even our kitchen table was chucked out. I got sick of fixing the chairs and at a dinner party a short while ago the wife put a dish that was way too hot. The result was a server discoloration. As it is only a veneer and not sold wood table we decided that we can do without a kitchen table for the remaining few months. The move really feels imminent now.

Yesterday we went to my brothers for a family get-together and were treated to a ride in his recently restored custom 55 Cadillac. He has spent the last five years restoring it and has done an amazing job.

This is the type of thing you do not see in the Philippines. I have heard of a few expats and wealthy Filipinos having exotic cars but these are few and far between. You almost never see anything on the road that would turn your head.

My brother also has a fully restored 1930 A Model Roadster. I have only ever seen one Vintage car in the Philippines and it was rusting away. It was located in Intramuros and reported to have belonged to the first President.

Anyway I will be back on the job tomorrow cleaning up as the truck will come in the aftertoon.
