“MAKING A LIVING IN THE PHILIPPINES!”

(What You Need To Know To Operate A Small Business, Get A Job Or Invest In The Philippines)

This book has been written with you in mind; the average, everyday guy who wants to escape to the Philippines and live every day with the Filipina of his dreams but still needs to make a living!

For many its the need to make a living that is stopping them from living in the Philippines but here is where You can find out how to work, start a business or invest in the Philippines and escape.

Housemaids leaving

Yesterday we had two housemaids and now we have none. The first left because her father got sick and there was no one to look after her baby. She had been with us from the beginning and we were sorry to loose her.

After she suddenly left a few hours later the other housemaid had a visit from her sister and informed us that she had to leave for a similar reason. We are less convinced about this explanation for the second housemaid. She also had a child but the wife suspects she had some sort of panic or concern about being left alone.

Both housemaids seemed happy and were always smiling. This is in contrast to my observation of many other housemaids. We treated them well and they would often sit down to the evening meal with us. They had every Sunday off which is more that most housemaids are given.

We have lost the money spent on bringing both of them up from the province. We were warned this would happen and were advised to hold money back until they had been with us a year. This is apparently common practice, as many housemaids often do not stay long.

We have decided that the rule of no babies will be applied in future. The new one arriving tomorrow from a close by island is 20 and we are told has no children.

She will be paid 1500 pesos per month, which is under $30. The going rate for an experienced housemaid is 2000 pesos, which is what we paid the first one. This includes full lodgings and there is an expectation that in the event of them getting sick you will cover medical expenses. So it’s a comprehensive package for them.
